Family heirlooms -  Example:   Photo Grandpa and Grandma on their 50th wedding anniversary with mementos like Grandpa's change purse, his pocket knife and a couple of coins dated 1900.
Special things left that remind you of your mom.
The collection of foreign coins you got on vacation with a photo of that vacation or a birth year coin set with photo for the grandchildren.
Your favorite stamps from you stamp collection
A christening dress, a baseball or other sports jersey, or ballet shoes each with photo of the person that used them.
The certificates, prize ribbons and metals should be framed for young people to show them how proud you are of them and to inspire them.

Things to consider before choosing art for a room.

What size is your wall?
How high are the ceilings?
What are the dominant colors/theme in the room?
Do you want to hang it over the sofa, fireplace, etc?
What are the proportions?
Is the room traditional or modern?
How should the artwork match the motif?
How much lighting do you have to work with; natural or artificial?

We can answer these questions and offer other helpful suggestions.  For example, many people are not aware of the fact that a painting is supposed to be hung at eye level.  Also, a sizeable, framed painting has its own aura and therefore needs to have a certain amount of empty space around it for appropriate presentation.  Another consideration is the need for varying content in the room's artwork in order to create the right balance.
